Reading: Parts of a story- beginning, middle, ending, characters, setting, listening and discussing stories with partners and as a class, beginning of the school year assessments (fluency passages, reading texts and answering questions, nonsense words recognition)
Letterland-Short/Long vowels and introducing Open/Closed syllables
Writing: Narrative/Small moment writing pieces- writing about a small moment in your life (Example: I rode a huge wave at the beach)
Daily 5: Building up classroom Daily 5 structure- Reviewing "Read to Self," Introducing "Work on Writing"
Social Studies: 5 Classroom rules of the classroom and the school CLIMB rules, reviewing "Growth mindset, discussing jobs and which job they would like to have, applying for a job and writing WHY you think you should get
Math: Tens frames/counting on to add and "making a ten" strategy, fast math facts (addition and subtraction)
